Allan Stanglin

I am the Senior Minister at Golf Course Road Church of Christ in Midland, Texas. My family and I moved here and began serving with this great church in August 2021. Previously, I have served with the Central Church of Christ in Amarillo and Legacy Church of Christ in North Richland Hills. Prior to congregational ministry, I worked in sports radio for 16 years, the last few as the Sports Director at KRLD in Dallas.

Our God has blessed me with a beautiful and loving wife of 33 years, Carrie-Anne; and three perfectly wonderful daughters: Whitney, Valerie and her husband David, and Carley and her brand new husband Collin.

I’m a graduate of Dallas Christian High School and Oklahoma Christian University and hold a Masters in Theological Studies from Austin Graduate School of Theology. I enjoy reading Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Eugene Peterson, Tim Keller, and anything by Skip Hollandsworth. I am passionate about Texas history, Dr Pepper, and the Lord’s Supper. My preaching and writing emphasize the grace and mercy of God for all men and women, the great blessings of Christian community, and the on-going sanctification of the saints. It should also be noted that I suffer a complicated love/hate relationship with the Dallas Cowboys.

My earnest prayer is that our gracious Father will use this blog as another way to communicate his love and mercy and grace to his people. My hope is that these writings will encourage you in your Christian faith and challenge you to grow as Christ is formed in you. I also see this website as a way for you to get to know me a little better as I grow into the call of God to faithfully preach his Word to the world he created. I hope my brakes-off, no-looking-back, full-steam-ahead commitment to our Lord is evident in what is presented here. May our God’s will be done in and through this blog as it is in heaven.

Thank you for reading.

I just finished reading your column in the Sunday paper. Thank you for reminding us that what happens during elections should not make us fearful. We as Christians believe that God is control and he works all things for our good.
